In an effort to achieve environmental sustainability, Dubai reduced its carbon emissions by 33% in 2020, surpassing, by more than double, the ratio defined in “Dubai Carbon Abatement Strategy 2021”, which aims to reduce emissions by 16% by 2021.
In this regard, Mr. Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Vice President of Dubai Supreme Council of Energy, praised the efforts exerted by all the entities that contributed to this achievement, indicating that these efforts are essential for achieving the goals of “Dubai Strategy of Clean Energy 2050”, “Dubai Carbon Neutrality Initiative”, and “Dubai`s Water & Energy Management Strategy”, hence converting Dubai into an international capital for green economy & sustainable development.
For his part, Mr. Ahmed Al Mohairi, Secretary General of Dubai Supreme Council of Energy, indicated that this achievement contributed to highlighting the importance of cooperation between individuals & institutions to support national & international efforts towards facing climate change & global warming.
