The Islamic Chamber of Commerce and Development participates in the 8th Ministerial Conference of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation for Women.
The Islamic Chamber of Commerce and Development has participated in the 8th Ministerial Conference of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation for Women, under the patronage of H.E. President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Arab Republic of Egypt in the New Administrative Capital in Cairo from 6 to 8 July 2021, under the title of “Preserving the achievements of gender equality and empowerment of women in light of the COVID-19 pandemic and beyond”.
The conference witnessed a huge presence and wide participation of many delegations, led by the ministers concerned with women’s affairs in the member states and iconic experts in the fields of economy and development, with the aim of empowering women and enhancing their role at all levels in OIC countries.
Egypt also took over the presidency of the conference for two years, headed by Dr. Maya Morsi, President of the National Council for Women in Egypt, from Ms. Helen Marie Lawrence, Minister of Women, National Solidarity and the Family in Burkina Faso, President of the 7th session of the conference.
The Secretary-General of the OIC, H.E. Dr. Yousef bin Ahmed Al-Othaimeen, participated in the 2nd Extraordinary Session of the ministerial council of OIC for Women, one of the specialized parts of the OIC. He expressed deep appreciation to Egypt for hosting and holding the 2nd extraordinary session “physically”, and for Egypt allocating a building for the organization’s headquarters, which confirms Egypt’s interest in the advancement of women and the strengthening of their role in all areas of development.
The Islamic Chamber was represented by Dr. Hassan Ramzy, CEO of ICCD Holding Company, Ms. Pakinam Al-Halabi, Manager of Member Relations Management Department, Ms. Nourhan Hafez, Media and Communication Manager, and Ms. Aya Mahrous, Media and Communication Officer.
In the context of presenting the efforts made by the affiliated institutions to OIC, Dr. Hassan Ramzy, CEO of ICCD Holding Company, gave an overview of the project of establishing microfinance institutions in the G5 countries and the developments of its establishment.
In this regard, the Islamic Chamber of Commerce and Development affirms its keenness and constant quest to contribute to the protection of women’s rights, empowering women and enhancing their role not only at the local level, but also at the regional and global levels.

The Islamic Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture was established based on the decree issued by the 7th session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of Islamic Countries held in May 1976 in Istanbul, Turkey.
The idea was adopted by the 1st Conference of Chambers of Commerce and Industry in the Islamic World, which was also held in Istanbul in the month October 1977. Then the Chamber’s constitution was approved by the 2nd Conference of Chambers of Commerce and Industry, which was held in December 1978 in the city of Karachi, and its headquarters is located in Karachi, the economic capital of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan
