A Strategic Partnership between ICCD & Bosnia's Federal Ministry of Agriculture, Water Management, and Forestry, to Drive the Global Halal Industry

“Bosnia and Herzegovina is one of the countries that manages the process of halal accreditation and certification most effectively. Through this partnership, we aim to promote and encourage foreign investors to take advantage of these opportunities and to recognize Bosnia and Herzegovina as a center of the halal industry”.

H.E. Mr. Yousef Khalawi, Secretary-General of the Islamic Chamber of Commerce and Development (ICCD), while signing an MoU with H.E. Mr. Kemal Hrnjić, the Federal Ministry of Agriculture, Water Management and Forestry in Bosnia and Herzegovina, on the sidelines of the 14th Sarajevo Business Forum, took place on May 21, 2025.

This initiative aims to establish Bosnia as a European Halal hub and Center of Excellence for the global halal market. It outlines a framework for creating a National Coordinating Committee on Halal, developing a comprehensive halal strategy, promoting investments, and facilitating joint ventures. According the MoU, both parties will also participate in international events and share expertise in agriculture, water management, forestry, and halal standards, while supporting sustainable practices.
