ICCD Advances Halal Economy Collaboration through High-Level Reception in Bangkok

In an effort to deepen economic integration and empower private-sector actors across the Muslim world, the Islamic Chamber of Commerce and Development (ICCD) hosted a high-level Halal Reception in Thailand, bringing together senior government officials, high-level international partners, and private-sector representatives, to foster collaboration in trade, investment, and values-driven collaboration between regional and global stakeholders.

Opening the reception, H.E. Mr. Yousef Khalawi, Secretary General of the Islamic Chamber of Commerce and Development (ICCD), underscored the Chamber’s mission to foster the Halal industry worldwide, stating: “We’re proud to host the largest Halal network globally, providing a comprehensive understanding of the Halal concept as a lifestyle, not just the export and import of meat or protein.”  

During his keynote speech at the reception, Prof. Abdullah Numsuk, Director of the Wasataih Institute, Office of the Chularatchamontri, emphasized the remarkable momentum driving Thailand’s Halal ecosystem, indicating: “The Halal system in Thailand represents an integrated framework that combines Islamic management, modern technologies, and global quality standards.”

Moreover, Dr. Thaweelap Rittapirom, Director and President of Islamic Bank of Thailand, emphasized: “It’s very essential for us to develop a strong, self-sustaining enabling system for Thailand Islamic economy. This aligns with the Quick Big Win initiative, which focuses on empowering Thai entrepreneurs, strengthening connectivity with the global players, especially in the Middle East and ASEAN, and reinforcing Thailand as a Muslim-friendly destination.”

Representing Thai Muslim Trade Association (TMTA), the President Mr. Marut Mekloy, highlighted ICCD’s significant impact on the evolution of business communities, indicating: “Through ICCD, we can attract capital from the Gulf, Malaysia, and Türkiye into Thai halal zones and create joint ventures where Thai expertise meets international resources and market access.”

The reception marked key milestones, through introducing ICCD’s ongoing initiatives and projects, followed by highlights from its flagship London and Makkah Halal Forums, emphasizing their crucial role in fostering Halal industry and building resilient Halal economies worldwide.

ICCD Halal Reception in Thailand showcased a steadfast commitment to building a more connected, equitable, and ethically grounded global economy, where Muslim businesses thrive through partnership, purpose, and principle.
