The Invest in Digital Economy Forum

Given significance of propelling digital economy worldwide, the Islamic Chamber of Commerce and Development and Jordan Chamber of Commerce are organizing the Invest in Digital Economy Forum “Amman: The Capital of Digital Economy”, under the patronage of His Majesty King Abdullah II ibn Al Hussein, on May 26 – 27, 2024, in Amman, the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, paving the way for a transformative era of growth and innovation in digital economy.

The forum is attended by a selection of decision makers, ministers and high-level government officials, as well as chambers representatives and international business delegations, with an insightful vision to explore ways of developing digital economy and promoting entrepreneurship in technological spheres, thus contributing to shaping a prosperous tomorrow for the global digital economy.

During his opening speech in the Invest in Digital Economy Forum, H.E. Mr. Abdullah Saleh Kamel, President of the Islamic Chamber of Commerce and Development (ICCD), emphasized the significance of this forum as a platform for promoting businesses in areas of digital economy, pointing out that the selection of Amman to host this forum annually comes as a result of its capabilities to keep pace with the developments occurring in the digital economy arena.

In this regard, he highlighted the necessity of joint action to make this forum an international platform for developing digital economy, stating: “If we collaborate consciously and intelligently, this annual platform will become a comprehensive global platform for the digital economy, making Amman a capital for business in the digital economy”.

H.E. Mr. Ahmad Al-Hanandeh, Minister of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, stated that the forum reflects His Majesty King Abdullah II’s direct vision and commitment to improving and developing a competitive investment environment in the region across various sectors, particularly in the shift towards a digital economy and supporting entrepreneurship.

He added that His Majesty consistently emphasizes the importance of attracting more investments during all meetings and occasions, leveraging Jordan’s geographic, political, economic, and social advantages to create a distinguished investment environment through effective partnerships between the public and private sectors, while removing obstacles for both local and foreign investments.

During this exceptional event, we explored the remarkable achievements by launching a digital economy competition featuring an international judging panel composed of elite global experts. This initiative aims to encourage promising minds, enhance innovation, and support startups across various fields within the digital economy.

Al-Haj Tawfiq noted that the forum serves as a vital platform for exchanging experiences and knowledge, fostering collaboration between the public and private sectors to enhance business in the digital economy.

He pointed out that the Kingdom has achieved numerous success stories in the information technology sector and has been a pioneer in developing infrastructure, legislation, and supporting entrepreneurs through the establishment of business incubators.

He affirmed that Jordan Chamber of Commerce will exert every effort to provide all possible support to enhance cooperation in this crucial sector, contributing to a prosperous future for the digital economy across the Islamic countries, and supporting young entrepreneurs, innovation, and startups to forge partnerships that strengthen the role of businesses in digital economy.

Over two days, we embark on a remarkable journey where ideas from numerous participants intertwine, through a series of insightful discussions and interactive workshops that showcase the latest innovations and technological solutions, contributing to the development of the global digital economy.

During this groundbreaking event, we soar into the world of tremendous innovations and achievements with the launch of the Digital Economy Competition, that will be judged by an international committee of distinguished experts, aiming to encourage promising minds, foster innovation, and support startups in digital economy.

In order to foster creativity and excellence in the technological fields, ICCD introduces the Digital Transformation Initiative as part of its strategic vision to enhance digital transformation and shape a prosperous digital future for the OIC member countries. The initiative includes the launch of the first-of-its-kind digital chamber, with the aim of facilitating digitalization for the chambers of commerce.
