ICCD co-organized the Global Muslim Business Forum 2023 "Innovations and Transformation in Islamic Economies "
Within its unwavering dedication to propel the Islamic economy to new heights, ICCD is thrilled to share the resounding success of the Global Muslim Business Forum (GMBF) 2023. From November 28th to 30th, this extraordinary event, jointly organized by the Islamic Chamber of Commerce and Development(ICCD), KSI Strategic Institute for Asia and the Pacific and Global One, explored the theme of “Innovations and Transformation in Islamic Economies”, leaving a lasting impact on the economic landscape.

With diverse origins spanning the globe, participants gathered at the Global Muslim Business Forum 2023, forming a vibrant tapestry of cultures, viewpoints, and ambitions, with an insightful vision to transform the Islamic economy arena on a global scale.

With a memorable evening, the GMBF commenced its journey at a remarkable Gala Dinner, graced by the esteemed presence of a distinguished group of the global leaders, whose profound insights underscored the pivotal role of the GMBF 2023 in shaping the unprecedented future of the Islamic economy, leaving the attendees enriched with their invaluable insights.

Driven by a vision of establishing a flourishing Islamic economy, the Rt. Hon. Dato’ Seri Anwar bin Ibrahim, Prime Minister of Malaysia, delivered an impactful opening speech at the grand Gala Dinner of the GMBF 2023, emphasizing the hurdles confronted by Muslim nations in fostering economic development, while simultaneously highlighting strategies to overcome these challenges and pave the way for a brighter future for all.

Recognizing the paramount significance of cooperation in shaping a prosperous future, H.E. Prof. Dr. Ma’ruf Amin, Vice President, Republic of Indonesia, also gave a speech at the Gala Dinner, underscoring the need to optimize the role of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and other international Islamic organizations, in order to enhance collaboration and strengthen ties to advance the interests of the Islamic economy. Moreover, he highlighted the potential for greater cooperation to drive economic growth, foster innovation, and create promising opportunities for the Islamic world.

Acknowledging the pivotal role of technology in charting a better future, the Rt. Hon. Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Dr. Abang Haji Abdul Rahman Zohari bin Tun Abang Haji Openg, Premier of Sarawak, stressed the necessity of leveraging technology to drive innovation, enhance productivity, foster economic growth, and improve the quality of life for people in Muslim nations.

Unveiling a Path of Promise and Potential, H.E. Mr. Yousef Khalawi, Secretary General of the Islamic Chamber of Commerce and Development (ICCD), brought his wisdom and vision to the second day of GMBF 2023. Within his inspiring welcome address, he emphasized the vital role of GMBF as a platform to showcase success stories and create innovative pathways for the future, benefiting both Muslim and non-Muslim generations.
With a keen awareness of the challenges facing Muslim communities today, H.E. Mr. Yousef Khalawi also explored various strategies and mechanisms to address these crises, paving the way for unparalleled economic growth.

The event was also graced by the special address of H.E. Senator Syed Yousuf Raza Gillani, Former Prime Minister of Pakistan & Parliamentary Leader of PPP in Senate, emphasizing the critical importance of skill development in tackling the challenges and adapting to the rapidly evolving world of today.
H.E. Oknha Datuk Dr. Othsman Hassan, Senior Minister for Special Mission, Cambodia, also gave a special address, adding his valuable insights to the event, shedding light on the investment potential in Cambodia.

As part of the GMBF, a grand awards ceremony was held to honor esteemed International Islamic Icons, Philanthropy, and Lifetime Achievement Awards. This momentous occasion recognized their outstanding contributions, remarkable philanthropic endeavors, and lifelong dedication to their respective fields.

The ceremony was commenced by the special address by The Rt. Hon. Dato’ Sri Haji Fadillah Bin Haji Yusof, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Plantation and Commodities, Malaysia, during which he commended the significance of the gathering and its implications. He highlighted the remarkable growth in global Muslim food consumption spending is projected to reach an astounding US$1.38 trillion (RM6.04 trillion) by the following year.
Dato’ Sri Haji Fadillah Bin Haji Yusof also emphasized the influential role of the youth, who are expected to comprise 60 percent of the world’s two billion Muslim population by 2030, acknowledging their impact in driving a revolution where the concept of halal is synonymous with health, hygiene, and ethical stewardship.

Setting the stage for a promising future, GMBF 2023 featured a captivating lineup of panel discussions, interactive workshops, and engaging sessions focused on the hottest and trendiest topics. Participants had the opportunity to delve into the latest trends, innovations, and strategies within the Islamic economy.

Moreover, a fruitful meeting between ICCD secretary General H.E. Mr. Yousef Khalawi and H.E. Ardasher Saeedjaafar Qodiri, Ambassador Extraordinary & Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Tajikistan to Malaysia on the sidelines of GMBF 2023 discussing the importance of empowering the Muslim businessmen in the world with focusing on Muslim minorities in non-Muslim countries.

Continuing his productive engagements, H.E. Mr. Yousef Khalawi, Secretary General of ICCD, had a fruitful meeting with Ms. Natavan Mammadova, Secretary General of the National Federation of Entrepreneur Organizations (Employers) of the Republic of Azerbaijan (ASK), in order to align their visions and explore opportunities for collaboration, strengthening the ties between ICCD and ASK.
The discussions centered around upcoming events, as both parties exchanged ideas and insights to ensure the success of these events, emphasizing the importance of effective planning and coordination. This meeting served as a platform to enhance cooperation and foster closer relations between ICCD and ASK for the benefit of the Islamic business community.
