Successful conclusion of the 11th Egypt CSR & Sustainable Development Forum

          Islamic Chamber of Commerce and Development is pleased to announce that the 11th Egypt CSR & Sustainable Development Forum entitled “Sustainability Toolbox for Recovery Action”, in which it participated as a Supporter on November 8, 2021, at InterContinental Citystars Cairo, has successfully concluded.

         The forum has been held as part of the Egyptian Government efforts to achieve a balanced and sustainable development in all of Egypt’s governorates, and to drive all parties to implement Egypt’s Vision 2030. It has also contributed to providing all stakeholders with the opportunity to build effective partnerships that accelerate the recovery process and drive development forward to ensure a decent life for the Egyptian citizen. 

         The 11th Egypt CSR & Sustainable Development Forum addressed how to tackle development financing challenges, sources of financing the recovery process and best mechanisms to produce concrete results at the state, enterprises, or individual level. It also highlighted the role of banking and insurance sectors in achieving sustainable development and digital transformation.

         The forum started with the opening remarks of Mr. Hassan Mostafa, President of Egypt CSR and Sustainability Forum, Mr. Ahmed Saada, Deputy Minister of Social Solidarity, on behalf of H.E. Dr. Nevin El-Kabbaj, Minister of Social Solidarity, General Ismail Al-Far on behalf of H.E. Dr. Ashraf Sobhi, Minister of Youth and Sports, Dr. Ali Abu Senna, CEO of the Environmental Affairs Agency on behalf of Dr. Yasmine Fouad, H.E. Minister of Environment in Egypt, and Eng. Hassan El-Raddad, Head of the Central Department for the Affairs of the Minister of Manpower’s Office, on behalf of Mr. Mohamed Saafan, H.E. Minister of Manpower.

          The 11th Egypt CSR & Sustainable Development Forum included a number of interactive sessions and workshops. Among them the “Partnerships for promoting equitable and spatial Sustainable development” session, which addressed the most prominent tools of Sustainability, and reviewed ways of achieving equitable & comprehensive development, and the best ways necessary to accelerate sustainability settlement in institutions, enterprises, as well as societies.

          In an effort to alleviate the economic & social consequences of Corona Pandemic, during his participation in the forum, General Ismail Al-Far, Deputy Minister and Head of the Central Administration and Youth Training at the Ministry of Youth, highlighted the importance of cooperation between all of the Egyptian ministries & institutions for achieving sustainable development, stressing the necessity of youth participation in all recent development projects to design a promising & sustainable future for Egypt.

            Seeking ways for financing to encounter Corona Pandemic consequences, the “How must Finance in a post COVID19 world look like-Recovery Finance?” session addressed mechanisms of sustainable development partnerships, tackling development financing challenges & sources of climate finance, and how to benefit from it.

            In this regard, Eng. Hassan El-Raddad, Head of the Central Department for the Affairs of the Minister of Manpower’s Office, stated that a strategy has been launched to reduce carbon emissions, deal with climate changes and achieve Egypt`s Vision 2030.

 

         The 11th Egypt CSR & Sustainable Development Forum provided all the participants with the opportunity to learn about the importance of effective partnerships in building the future, outreach stakeholders in social responsibility and sustainable development. Several development areas have been discussed such as: green banking principles, transforming banking sector into a sustainable sector, entrepreneurship future & applying sustainability criteria. Several international & local experts addressed best experiences & practices of private sector to achieve sustainability, and the role of stakeholders to ensure a decent life for the Egyptian citizen.

         ICCD`s participation in this forum is considered a reinforcing step towards sustainable development, promoting economic and social recovery from Corona Pandemic consequences, and spreading awareness of preserving Egyptian & regional environment.
