As part of Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week 2022 (ADSW) events, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the United Arab Emirates launches “Union 7” initiative, in order to finance renewable energy projects in Africa and provide 100 million people with clean electricity by 2035.
This initiative would meet the increasing needs of energy in the African continent, without a corresponding increase in greenhouse gas emissions, through public and private sectors fund- raising to invest in clean energy.
It should be noted that “Union 7” initiative comes as part of the strong economic ties between the United Arab Emirates and the African Continent Countries, and in the context of UAE`s hosting of COP28, aiming to achieve sustainable development through achieving progress in renewable energy.
